✦ Synopsis

Two patients are described with spontaneous wide fluctuations in the size of pulmonary capillary wedge pressure V waves thought to be related to cyclic spontaneous variations in the degree of mitral regurgitation over very short periods of time. The findings are thought to represent a hemodynamically distinct syndrome intermediate between chronic severe and acute severe mitral regurgitation.
