✦ Synopsis

The microwa¨e microstrip ring resonator MRR is perturbed by a flexible, nondestructi¨e method of keeping cross and partial o¨erlays of Al O strips. The splitting of the resonance cur¨e is obser¨ed 2 3 with amplitude ¨ariations as expected theoretically, but is not obser¨ed below a critial perturbation. Further empirical relations are reported for ( ) the first time, for the odd-mode frequency f and e¨en-mode frequency r o ( ) f ¨ariations, gi¨ing f changes proportional to the perturbation, but r e r e f being independent of the same.

## Abstract A new method for generating split modes in ring resonators, used as notch filters with three geometries (square, triangular, and circular), is introduced by varying the feed position of electromagnetically coupled feed line. The resonators are fabricated (all at 2.4 GHz nominally) on TM
