โœฆ Synopsis

Gaucher's disease is a familial disorder of lipid metabolism resulting in the accumulation of glucocerebrosides in the reticuloendothelial cells. It is manifested clinically by hepatosplenomegaly. To date there have been no reports of sonographic findings in the spleen in Gaucher's disease. Focal anechoic lesions in the spleen have previously been cited in the 1iterature.l~~ We wish to report an unusual case of a patient with previously diagnosed Gaucher's disease who presented to our institution with a pancreatic head mass and multiple well-defined hypoechoic areas in his spleen simulating metastases. However, on pathologic examination, these areas were found to represent nodular areas of fibrosis secondary to Gaucher's disease.
