✦ Synopsis
Transport simulations including in-medium properties derived in a microscopic ?+NN &1 +2N &1 model in infinite nuclear matter are presented. In-medium pion dispersion relations, partial 2 decay widths, pion absorption cross sections, and 2 cross sections are incorporated into the transport description by means of a local density approximation. Comparisons between standard and medium-modified transport simulations are presented. Large changes of ? and 2 production and absorption rates are found, but the effect on the resulting pion observables is relatively small.
