โœฆ Synopsis

Previous studies on the links between brain-stem respiratory nerve eells and phrenic motoneurons v and on the relationship between cutaneous afferent inflow and intercostal respiratory motor unit activity lยฐ indicate that complex mechanisms at the spinal cord level are involved in the regulation of respiratory motor activity. The present investigation of the thoraeie segments of the spinal cord with microelectrodes was undertaken in the hope of clarifying some of the issues. Data prcsented hefe suggest that interneurons play an important integrative role in the regulation of intercostal respiratory motor units discharge.
