โฆ Synopsis
for 0.5 h. The monomers 2,8-dibromo-6,6,12,12-tetraoctylindenofluorene (1) (600 mg, 0.7 mmol) and 9,10-dibromoanthracene (2) (35 mg, 0.1 mmol), dissolved in 15 mL dry and degassed toluene, were added to the above solution and the polymerization maintained at 80 C for 3 days. After cooling, the workup procedure included several washing steps with HCl (aq) , ethylenediamine tetraacetate (aq) (EDTA) (aq) , and water, followed by repeated precipitation of a concentrated polymer solution into a methanol/acetone mixture. In order to remove the bromine end groups, the obtained dark-yellow solid was refluxed in a mixture of toluene and LiAlH 4 . After 2 days, the mixture was filtered, washed with water, and precipitated in methanol to afford the poly-2,8-(6,6,12,12-tetraoctylindenofluorene)-co-9,10-anthracenediyl (PIF-co-anthracene) (3) in reasonable yield (72 %).
