✦ Synopsis
We investigate the stability of antiferromagnetic phases at Hund's exchange coupling between two e g electrons J H ¼ 0 in a model of LaMnO 3 , and derive spin and mixed spin-and-orbital excitations for either x 2 À y 2 or 3z 2 À r 2 orbitals occupied. It is found that the superexchange due to t 2g electron excitations and the charge transfer processes in the superexchange remove the divergence of quantum corrections and stabilize both ordered phases.
