✦ Synopsis

to liquids (BTL) process. According to the IFP, this process uses wood residues, removing their sulfur and aromatic contents. The product is suitable for vehicle fuel, either alone or mixed with fossil fuels. The German engineering company Choren Industries is to provide a pilot plant at Freiberg. The planned output of 200,000 tonne/y could begin in 2012. The European Union is providing €7.8 M for the project.
