The speed of sound in a synthetic and a real distillation cut has been measured up to p = 150 MPa in the temperature range T = (293.15 to 373.15) K. The synthetic system, which is representative of distillation cuts, is made up of five components with high boiling point temperatures of about T b = 5

✦ Synopsis
´Thermophysical properties such as speed of sound, density, and isentropic and isothermal compressibilities have been obtained from ultrasonic speed measurements on two synthetic Ž systems which are representative of distillation cuts with high bubble points T s 520 K and . Ž . T s 573 K, respectively . The first system composition expressed in mass fraction , Ž . Ž 0.40C H q 0.35C H q 0.25C H , was investigated at pressures from 0.1 to 13 28 13 26 13 20 . Ž . 150 MPa in the temperature range T s 293.15 to 373.15 K, whereas the second one, Ž . 0.40C H q 0.35C H q 0.25C H , was investigated at pressures up to 100 MPa in 17 36 16 32 16 26 Ž . the temperature range T s 293.15 to 373.15 K.
