✦ Synopsis
The (A^{\prime} 2\left({ }^{3} \mathrm{II}\right)) state of (1 \mathrm{Br}) is observed in a free-jet expansion of (1 \mathrm{Br}) in (\mathrm{Ar}), following photolysis with ArF laser irradiation. Laser excitation spectra are recorded for the (D^{\prime} 2\left({ }^{3} P_{2}\right) \leftarrow A^{\prime}) transition. The data include high-resolution. rotationally analyzed measurements for 34 bands in ({ }^{127}{ }^{19} \mathrm{Br}) and 37 in ({ }^{127} 1^{81} \mathrm{Br}), plus bandhead measurements for (>300) bands recorded in low resolution. The data span (v^{\prime \prime}=0-5) and (v^{\prime}=24-97). The results from the analysis of these data are merged with preliminary results from a study of the (D^{\prime} \rightarrow A^{\prime}) emission spectrum to yield spectroscopic constants valid for (v^{\prime}=0-97 . v^{\prime \prime}=0-22).
