โœฆ Synopsis

The Landau absorption lines of boron in Ge have been studied for B jj h100i and h111i. At high fields, dichroic effects are seen; these are due to the Zeeman splitting of the ground state. The lines are related to the light-hole Landau levels and the final states are assigned to parent subbands by virtue of their energy dependence on B and also, for some, on their dichroism. For the latter, symmetries can be assigned to the final states and, by correlation with those of the parent band-states, their envelope functions.
