A polysaccharide was isolated from the cell wall of the cyanobacterium Spirulinaplatensis. Hydrolysis of the polysaccharide only yielded glucose. Curie-point pyrolysis mass spectrometry of the polysaccharide resulted in a spectrum very similar to that of fl-1,2-glucan. Probably the glucan originates
