✦ Synopsis
The heteroligand complexes Ni(dtc)(xan), Ni(dtc)(sa.lox), Ni(dtc)(dmg), Ni(xan)(dmg), Ni(xan)(salox), Ni(dmg)(salox) and Ni(salox)(sph) (where dtc-= DiDeridine dithiocarbamate. xan-= ethylxanthate, dmg' = dimethylglyoximate; salox = salicylaldoximate and sph-= salicylaldehyde phenylhydrazonate) have been synthesized. Molar conductances suggest that the complexes are nonelectrolytes. Magnetic and electronic spectral studies suggest square-planar geometry for all the complexes except Ni(saIox)(sph) which has been shown to possess tetrahedral stereochemistry.
The splitting of energy levels with respect to coordinated atoms has been found to be dependent on their nature. Infrared spectra indicate the uninegative bidentate behaviour of the ligands.
