✦ Synopsis
The FT-IR, Raman spectra of picolinic acid as well as Fe(III), Zn(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Ag(I) picolinates were registered, assigned and compared. Some regularities in the spectra of studied picolinates within the regions: 1650-1340 cm À1 [m(CC) ar , m as (COO À ), m s (COO À )]; 1300-1020 cm À1 [b(CH)]; 780-620 cm À1 [c(CH), a(CCC)] were found. 1 H and 13 C NMR spectra for picolinic acid, Zn(II) and Ag(I) picolinates were recorded and studied as well. Moreover the UV spectra of picolinic and picolinates were registered and compared. The influence of Ag(I), Zn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Fe(III) on the electronic system of picolinic acid was investigated. The microbiological activity of picolinates against two species of bacteria: Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis as well as two species of yeasts: Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Hansenula anomala was also studied.
