Raman spectra of aqueous solutions of = 0.5 and GZ 0.05 M calcium nitrate recorded in their glassy states at 90 K are reported and compared with those recorded at 295 K. Evidence for increasing contact-ion pairing in the glassy state is based on increasing intensity of a band in the uq band region a

✦ Synopsis
Solutions of hydronium chloride or bromide in liquid sulphur dioxide acre reexamined by the Rnman efrect under laser cscitation.TIlc new data. when correlated with previous ones in the infrared, reveal 3 huge splitling of vs. the deSertcrate bending mode of the isolated !i30' ion. This is ascribed to lowered symmetry of that ion, n consequence of non-equivalent hydrogen bonds in ion-pairs. The latter are the most abundant species in these systems, according to electrochemistry. The fundamentals of the hybrid ions HaDO+ and HDaO+ in isotopic misturcs were identified by comparison with the dcutrrated ammonias.
