โฆ Synopsis
The polarized single-crystal spectra of the Magnus salts [Pt(NH3)4] [PtClJ], [Pd(NHJ)Qj [PtC4], [Pt(NH3)4] (PdC4 j, and (Pd(NH&J [I'd&] hzve been obtained in the quartz ultraviolet and visible regions. These results provide strong evidence for a delocalized. zacited state being associated with the intense ultraviolet transition foilnd in the spectra of [he &gnus salts. One thus has available an important new criterion t'or the evaluation of the theorctical treatments of these systems.
