✦ Synopsis
Results for various coal ashes (fly ash) in Table I1 show that the titanium content in the sample aliquot must be below 0.5 mg. Thorium results in coal ash from Victoria containing 0.36 % titanium dioxide and in coal ash from N.S.W. containing 0.81% titanium dioxide were identical when either low or high dilution factors were used, but when the titanium dioxide content was 2 % a dilution factor of 20 had to be used to obtain the correct thorium content.
