β¦ Synopsis
A simple, sensitive, and accurate fluorimetric method is described for the quantitative determination of organophosphorous insecticides. The method is based on the oxidation of indole with sodium perborate in the presence of organophosphorous ester, to give a highly fluorescent product that exhibits excitation and emission maximum at 380 and (488 \mathrm{~nm}), respectively. The method can be used to determine different organophosphorous esters in the parts per million quantities range. 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
