✦ Synopsis

The specific heats ofSm~ + ~Ba2_xCU3Oy solid solution of orthorhombic and tetragonal structure were measured in the temperature range 80-300 K. The data were analyzed in the framework of the Debye model with dilatation correction. The tendency to lower the high-temperature limit of the Debye temperature, Ol~ x, with the oxygen deficiency was noticed. In contrast, the increase of Sm substitution causes a rise of Og x. The temperature dependence OD (T) was calculated for each compound from the series for the whole temperature region investigated.

Two series of Sml+xBa2\_xfU30y samples were prepared, both exhibiting a change from orthorhombic to tetragonal structure. The first is a series of solid solution of increasing Sm/Ba ratio, the second is a series of exact "123" cation stoichiometry with lowering oxygen content. Several quantities, su

Using the top-seeded solution-growth method, Sm 1þx Ba 2Àx Cu 3 O z (SmBCOss) single crystals and thick films were grown in different solvents. Inductively coupled plasma compositional analysis was performed to both Ba-Cu-O solvents and SmBCOss solid solutions. The results indicate that a nearly sto
