✦ Synopsis


The special section of European Logistics and Supply Chain Management Research 2009 is once again based on the CSCMP European Research Seminar (ERS) which took place for the fourth time in Copenhagen in 2009. The aim of the seminar is to highlight European logistics and supply chain issues and research. Despite the increasing globalization of both actual supply chains and supply chain management knowledge, it still seems to be a good idea to emphasize more regional approaches in logistics and supply chain management research. With the CSCMP European Research Seminar, we are seeking to take this regional approach, as there seems to be no one else on the research conference "market" who has succeeded or had the ambition to do so. The ERS is also an attempt to increase awareness and interaction between researchers between regions, such as Europe and North America. This is done by promoting the ERS at the Annual Supply Chain Management Educators' Conference in the United States and through the CSCMP global advertisement of the seminar, as well as using, as far as possible, a global reviewer group.
