โฆ Synopsis
The objectives of The International Environmetrics Society (TIES) are to foster the development and use of statistical and other quantitative methods in the environmental sciences, environmental engineering, and environmental monitoring and protection. The objectives of the International Spatial Accuracy Research Association (ISARA) focus on measuring, modeling, and managing uncertainty in spatial data in the natural resources and environmental sciences. The idea for a joint meeting of the two organizations emerged after I had attended several meetings of each group. The similar thematic emphases of the two groups promised a stimulating and profitable conference, particularly because the meetings of the two groups had few common participants. Therefore, with the encouragement of a colleague and the promise of assistance, I undertook to organize a joint meeting of the two groups.
