beam. These X-rays are many times more penetrating than those produced by conventional X-ray machines, or by radioactive substances such as radium. Queens University's Prof. J. A. Gray and his collaborators, Dr. H. M. (;ave and Dr. D. T. Roberts, together with other Canadian scientists, will employ the machine to conduct research with high-energy X-rays. The synchrotron will be installed in a special underground chamber to protect personnel from harmful radiations, and will be operated from a remote-control station in a nearby building.
