the new house surgeon will find it even more useful especially as it is well indexed.
The authors clearly remember their own problems as a new house surgeon and the nursing sister clearly remembers the problems she had with new housemen. They have combined to produce an excellent new venture in medical literature and are to be congratulated.

specializing in biliary surgery will find the chapters headed Injuries of the Bile Duct' and 'Carcinoma of the Gallbladder and Hepatic Duct' invaluable as they present the unique experience of one surgeon. The authors of 'Choledocholithiasis' and 'Post Cholecystectomy Symptoms' have produced an interesting discussion which will provoke thought, if not full agreement. Useful information is available in the chapters on chemotherapy, and the review on sclerosing cholangitis is exhaustive. In the reviewer's opinion, parts of this book are excellent but deficiencies in certain areas are sufficient to prevent it from being an authoritative review of the present state of biliary surgery.
