✦ Synopsis
Figure 3-D plot of the propagation of an optical pulse in a dispersion-shifted optical fiber with an initial frequency chirp 2 frequency using a quadratic form of phase variation may underestimate the influence of frequency chirp on soliton propagation.
Conclusions
We have investigated the influence of initial frequency chirp on the propagation of soliton-like pulses theoretically. We proposed the use of a Gaussian function to approximate the chirp profile of the soliton-like pulse. Furthermore, initial frequency chirp is investigated by the FSAT. It is found that stable propagation of chirped soliton-like pulses is possible at a tolerance level of , that is, C s A F 0.425. crit
