✦ Synopsis

This patent is concerned with the duo-cone type of mechanical face seal that is used in earthmoving equipment applications. Elastic layers (28, 29) are used on the conical surfaces of the seal rings and housing respectively. The purpose is to inhibit entrainment of debris.
