✦ Synopsis

Book REVIEWS [J. F. I.

aims to provide a geometrical theory for elementary particles as well as for the electromagnetic field. The central idea cf the theory is that particles might be identified with topological singularities in space-time.

The final article reviews the physical assumptions underlying the cosmological models of Einstein, de Sitter, Friedmann, Godel and others.

Altogether, this is a fascinating book, which may be recommended to people who are already conversant with general relativity (say with Pauli's book on the subject) and who wish to learn something of present trends in research on this subject.
