Measured antenna gain in the broadside direction against frequency for the proposed antenna shown in Figure 2 with s 40Њ c the antenna gain near the center operating frequencies can be enhanced, and the antenna-gain variation within the operating bandwidth can further be reduced.
4. Conclusions
A broadband circular microstrip antenna directly excited by using a 50 ⍀ microstrip feed line has been proposed and experimentally studied. The broadband operation is achieved by the integrated reactive loading provided by the embedded T-shaped microstrip-line section within the circular patch. And good impedance matching for frequencies within the wide operating bandwidth is obtained by selecting a suitable angle between the microstrip feed line and the embedded T-shaped microstrip-line section. The proposed broadband design can find applications in microstrip array designs, and has the advantage of easy integration with coplanar microwave integrated circuits.
