โœฆ Synopsis

The Universe at Ultra-High Energies (UHE) above E > 6 ร— 10 19 eV is largely unexplored. In this paper we focus on the search for UHE neutrinos. After briefly summarizing the science rationale for neutrino studies at UHE, we describe the Extreme Universe Space Observatory (EUSO) onboard the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM) of the International Space Station.

A point source acoustic calibrator for the simulation of the neutrino-generated bipolar signals in seawater is developed. This is achieved through hydrophone modelling using standard signal processing techniques. The method is experimentally confirmed for an omni-directional source.

We discuss the flux of neutrinos generated by the propagation of ultra-high energy nuclei over cosmological distances. The cosmogenic neutrino flux from mixed composition sources is similar to that of pure proton sources. The high energy peak, due to photopion production off CMB photons, has a simil
