✦ Synopsis
Some types of lining used on internal wall surfaces of buildings have been found to influence sound insulation. This effect is due to the excitation of mechanical resonances in the lining. There is insu~cient evidence available from which to make specific proposals, but it is recommended that where resilient linings are used, consideration should be given to the possible acoustic consequences.
