A new expression for the sound absorption in liquids as observed a t 3 Mc. and above has been derived on the basis of the relation which has been observed to exist between the ratio of specific heats and the ratio of observed absorption to the classical absorption. The new formula can be denoted by

## Abstract A further study of light scattering in relation to sound absorption has revealed that the ratio of the intensity of the central component to the sum of the intensities of the Brillouin components is a function of total sound absorption, rather than of viscosity as interpreted from obser
