the mid-portion of the ureters is limited. Normal-sized ureters cannot routinely be demonstrated by sonography because of their small size. However, dilatation of the ureter resulting from obstruction, severe vesicoureteral reflux, or congenital abnormalities can be recognized. 1,2 In cases of obstructive uropathy, sonography can help to identify the cause of obstruction. We describe a patient in whom sonography demonstrated a nonobstructive tumor in the abdominal portion of the ureter.
