## Abstract A simple sonochemical route for the synthesis of Ag nanoparticles on ZnO nanorods is reported. Ultrasonic irradiation of a mixture of ZnO nanorods, Ag(NH~3~)~2~^+^, and formaldehyde in an aqueous medium yields ZnO nanorod/Ag nanoparticle composites. The powder X‐ray diffraction of the Z
