✦ Synopsis

Sufficient conditions for the uniqueness of the symmetric temperature and concentration profiles in a porous catalyst slab are obtained, for the case in which there are non-negligible heat and mass transfer resistances at the boundaries. The general results are used to obtain explicit uniqueness criteria for a single irreversible reaction.
