Some Tungsten–Bronze Compounds in the BaO–Nd2O3–TiO2–Ta2O5 System

✦ Synopsis

Some dielectric oxides have been synthesized and characterized in the BaO+Nd 2 O 3 +TiO 2 +Ta 2 O 5 system. Through X-ray powder di4raction analysis, Ba 4 Nd 2 Ti 4 Ta 6 O 30 and Ba 5 Nd Ti 3 Ta 7 O 30 are identi5ed as tetragonal tungsten+bronze compounds, and their lattice constants are a ‫؍‬ b ‫؍‬ 12.4007(7) A s , c ‫؍‬ 3.9030(3) A s and a ‫؍‬ b ‫؍‬ 12.4826(6) A s , c ‫؍‬ 3.9295(5) A s , respectively. The possible space group is P4bm. The polycrystalline samples of these compounds exhibit high dielectric constant (137&160) and low dielectric loss, tan < 7؋10 ؊4 at 1 MHz.
