Transfer the pyruvic acid solution (or in the case of pyruvute a known volume of the pyruvate solution with an equal voiumc of 0.1 M pcrchloric acid) to a conical flask and add two drops of a 20/O solution of ammonium molybdate. Heat the solution to about 50" and then titrate with standard 0.05 M cerium(IV) perchlorate solution in I M perchloric acid using ferruin as indicator. Standardize the ccrium(IV) solution against sodium oxalatc using the same indicator.
