โฆ Synopsis
The small angle scattering from a number of graphites which had been neutron irradiated at 1050ยฐC to doses up to 5 X 10" n.cm-* (Dido Nickel Equivalent) has been studied. Irradiation results in a decrease in the number of pores and regions of disorder whose radius of gyration is -100 A and an increase in the number whose corresponding dimensions are -25 A. Fractional changes in the volume of these samples due to irradiation were also studied and the well known shrinkage, followed by turn-around and e:pansion with increasing dose observed. However it was not possible to correlate changes in the 100 or 25 A porosity during irradiation with this accompanying turn-around. It is concluded therefore that such a correlation will occur with pores larger than -100 A. Evidence is oresented which sueeests that the defect structure of different types of graphite becomes -more nearly similar as a result of irradiation.

The interchange or so-called transamidation process in polyamide-4.6 was investigated by means of small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). For this purpose, a 50/50 blend of partially deuterated and fully hydrogenous polyamide-4.6 was processed at 300ยฐC for variable times (1-20 min). The obtained resu
Small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) was used to study the structure of protein/sodium dodecylsulfate complexes. Two water soluble proteins, bovine serum albumin (BSA) and ovalbumin (OVA), were used. The protein concentration was kept constant at 1 wt %, and protein/detergent wt ratio varied betwee
Pore size distribution functions of coals of different rank obtained from small-angle neutron scattering data are quantitatively consistent with data obtained from adsorption measurements. The agreement will provide a firm foundation for using SANS to probe coal porosity under conditions where conve
