## Communicated by W. Sprâßig We study point spectra of the two integral operators that are generated by the boundary values of the simple-layer potential and of the integral tightly related to the double-layer potential; the operators act on the Hâlder space H l (C), l ∈ (0, 1), and on the Lebesg

In one of his works, M.G. Krein discovered an analogy between polynomials orthogonal on the unit circle and generalized eigenfunctions of certain differential systems. We used some ideas of this paper to obtain new results in spectral analysis of Sturm-Liouville operators.
