โœฆ Synopsis

This paper discusses the voltage-current characteristics of stranded superconductors. Voltage jumps and the hysteresis in the rising and decreasing parts of the characteristic are explained in terms of a thin film thermal resistance between the superconductor and the stabilizer. By appropriate heat treatment of the superconductor, which is covered electrolytically with copper, this harmful phenomenon can be eliminated.
