β¦ Synopsis
We show the equivalence of tow-dimensional quantum gravity interacting with a total number of scalar and Dirac-fermion degrees of freedom less of 26 and quantum Liouville lield theory. An analysis of the two-dimensional effective geometry, as well as of the conditions of non-triviality of the resulting quantum theory, is also included. A general procedure to get the complete one-loop effective action is suggested at the end. 'a' 1986 Academic Press. Inc

Quantum gravity coupled to scalar massive matter fields is investigated in the framework of causal perturbation theory using the Epstein Glaser regularizationΓrenormalization scheme. Detailed one-loop calculations include the matter loop graviton self-energy and the matter self-energy. The condition
It is possible to show that the theorem of Fieller yields an exact confidence region derivable from the likelihood ratio b a t . The statement Of m N (1982) that this confidence region is conservative is refuted. Bounds for the conditional confidence coefficient under the condition that the confiden
