โฆ Synopsis
V a n I t t e r b e e k l) has recently reported some experiments concerning the expansion method of liquefying helium, that he has carried out with v a n D i n g e n e n. I am of course pleased to see that the authors have formed such a favourable opinion bf the possibilities of this method, but all the same I think there are a few remarks that should be made. The first concerns an actual discrepancy between their experimental observations and ours on the question of the yield. The remainder are, I believe, not at variance with the conclusions of his paper; but this seems to be an opportunity to emphasize some points which are of importance now that the method is being used in an increasing number of laboratories.
