β¦ Synopsis
A survey is given on the results of stable crack growth studies done at DFVLR. The tests were done under both cyclic and monotonic loads. Special attention was given to the effects of specimen size and material on crack growth. It was found that certain similarities exist between crack growth under cyclic and monotonic loads, respectively. Some simple calculations are compared with experimental results. ln order to clarify the reason why the stable growth of branched cracks occurs in delayed failure, while not in other subcritical crack propagation process such as fatigue, the stress intensity factor after crack branching in delayed failure was dropped to various values, and the propagation behavio
