β¦ Synopsis
A chain of autocatalytic reactions, first proposed by Lotka in 19 10, exhibit some unusual behaviors. Under proper conditions the concentrations of various species oscillate about steady state values. Conditions that lead to such oscillations are discussed. When these oscillating concentrations are plotted against each other, a closed ring or limit cycle is obtained. When autocatalytic reactions take place in flow reactors. a number of anomalous behaviors are observed, and th:y are described and discussed.
