β¦ Synopsis
The still unsolved AbrahamMinkowski controversy on the symmetry of the energymomentum tensor implies a defect of the EDHB formulation (abbreviated as DH formulation) of electromagnetism. In this paper, three problems of electrostatic forces acting on dielectric media are considered in the EB and DH formulations in connection with the conservation law of momentum. For this purpose, a new and consistent expression for the local fields is presented. The conclusion is that the law of conservation of momentum in the DH formulation is not a physical, but a mathematical one. Thus, the AbrahamMinkowski controversy has been radically resolved in a form that is physically meaningless.
