Structural features of bhindi fiber have been studied by X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy, and infrared spectroscopy. The fiber has multicellular structure and on alkali treatment, it behaves like other lignocellulosic fibers. Infrared spectra indicated that alkali degradation of c
