โฆ Synopsis
AbstmctXement-based materials always contain a large number of microcracks that govern the process of structural disintegration under load. Global features of microcracking can be obtained by means of a stereological approach to section or surface crack patterns of specimens. On mesolevel concrete can be considered as a two-phase composite in which cracks are additionally dispersed. The cracks and particles have similar dimensions, since most of the cracking is located in interfaces. Observations by microscope allow a structural interpretation of the global crack morphological measures. The paper presents features of microcracking obtained in compression and tension.
