✦ Synopsis

For q, an odd prime power, we construct symmetric 2q 2 2q 1Y q 2 Y 1 2 qq À 1 designs having an automorphism group of order q that ®xes 2q 1 points. The construction indicates that for each q the number of such designs that are pairwise non-isomorphic is very large.

This article presents a construction of all symmetric designs with parameters (70,24.8) on which the group Es 3 F,, operates so that the automorphism of order 7 operates fixed-point-free. A method based on enumeration of cosets in group is used for the construction.
