โฆ Synopsis
ANDERSON and POSPAHALA (1970) investigated the estimation of wildlife population size using the belt or line transect sampling method and devised a correction for bias, thus leading to an estimator with interesting characteristics. This work was giveh a uniform mathematical framework in BURNAAM and ANDERSON (1976). In this paper we extend that mathematical framework to severa1 different sampling models, and a number of ihteresting discrete probability distributions emerge.

## Abstract This article proposes a simple approach for reducing the bias of the traditional histogram estimator using line transect sampling. The approach uses the bias correction technique, which produces a new estimator for density of objects __D__. The proposed estimator reduces the bias from O
