These papers were presented at a symposium held at the International Cryogenics Exhibitionin Brighton on 7 April 1971. The problems dealt with are cryosurgery and organ storage, both by hypothermia and at sub-zero temperatures. In each case biological principles and the engineering methods applied are discussed.
