✦ Synopsis
In 1983, a comprehensive paper on tensile, torsional and flexural harmonic vibration of axially loaded and damped Rayleigh-Timoshenko beams embedded in a damped %mbient medium was presented by Lunden and Akesson.' The purpose of this letter is to demonstrate some implications of the model' advanced for the beam and ambient medium, and to correct some of the statements made. Concerning notation, see Reference 1.
