โœฆ Synopsis

In their paper ,,Characteristics of Prota-omalous Vision" Mc~ Keon ~ Wright (1940) have listed the trichromatic co~efficients and the relative luminosities of an equal-energy spectrum for six protanomalous observers. Of the six observers three, namely B, C and F, are of special interest because from h = 0.53 /z. to the blue end' of the spectrum the red R (0.63 ~a.) coefficient is absent, and from X ~-t9.53 ,/~. to the red end of the spectrum the blue B (0.46 ,/~.) is missing. This means that these protanomalous obser~ vers are 'dichromatic' when measuring spectral colours with 0.46 /~. 0.53 /~. and 0.65: /x. primaries, as they need use only two primaries to ma~ch any of these colours. They, of course, differ from true dichromats as the latter use the same two primaries throughout the spectrum. The trichromatic coefficients and relative luminosities of these three observers are very similar, and the characteristics of observer F are almost identical with the mean values of B, C, and F.
